Call and Response: In The Zone
To everyone who attended the Opening on October 14, 2020. We had a great time!
The show will be viewable until Dec 4, 2020.
Feel free to enter the gallery and enjoy the exhibition at your own convenience.
Call and Response is a group exhibition held each year by the Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance program of the School of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies. Traditionally the aesthetics have been created in relation to various Humanities, community, and social themes. This year Call and Response is dedicated completely to being IN THE ZONE, where the idea of being caught up in the moment between boredom and anxiety fosters innovation. IAP student artists in both the online and on the ground IAP courses will present their interpretation(s) of what it means to experience the Covid-19 “zone.”
As artists and observers of society, it becomes especially important to transform our shared adversity into a new, different version of what our current and future “norms” can be. The expressions of the student artists have been developed into a variety of digital artworks: installations, performances, interactive projects, and visual art. Typically, the Call and Response exhibition of student work is installed at the IAP Gallery: ArtSpace West. Due to the pandemic, it has been closed for the Fall 2020 semester yet our desire to create and share our work was not diminished by this temporary circumstance: The Call and Response: IN THE ZONE exhibition will be featured in a virtual exhibition gallery.
Call and Response: IN THE ZONE has been organized and curated by Associate Professors Theresa Devine and Patricia Clark and supported by the Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance Program, School of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies, and New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at ASU West.
